February Book Club Selection

'Pym' by Mat Johnson

Pym coverThe February selection of the Chevy Chase Book Club is Pym by Mat Johnson.  It is a hilarious and insightful book about race, obsession and literature that uses Edgar Allan Poe's bizarre novel The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym as a jumping off point.

Copies of Pym can be picked up at the Chevy Chase Neighborhood Library or can be downloaded from our website.  You can also hear a fantastic interview with Johnson on NPR

For anyone who is interested, Poe's book can be reserved at the library (it is included in the volume Poetry and Tales) or downloaded from our website.  You can also read it online or download it as an audiobook.  You don't need to read Poe's book to understand Pym (Johnson does a great job summarizing it in his novel) but it's worth checking out.

The club will meet Feb. 4 at 7 p.m.
