Each January, the Association of Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, awards one Randolph Caldecott Medal and two or more Honors for distinguished American illustration for children's picture books.

This Saturday, Feb. 2, we honor past children's books with a viewing of short animated films that incorporate the award-winning art. Watch all of the following or come for your favorite:
10 a.m.: Rosa, written by Nikki Giovanni and illustrated by Bryan Collier, 2006 Caldecott Honor
10:30 a.m.: Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, written and illustrated by Mo Willems, 2004 Caldecott Honor
11 a.m.: Martin's Big Words: The Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., written by Doreen Rappaport and illustrated by Bryan Collier, 2002 Caldecott Honor
11:30 a.m.: John Henry, written by Julius Lester and illustrated by Jerry Pinkney, 1995 Caldecott Honor
12 p.m.: Strega Nona, written and illustrated by Tomie DePaola, 1976 Caldecott Honor
12:30 p.m.: Madeline, written and illustrated by Ludwig Bemelmans, 1940 Caldecott Honor
