Blind Date with a Book
Published on Monday, February 4, 2013 - 3:04pm
Perhaps it is due to Valentine's Day occurring February, but the fact is that for many of us this month conjures images of love. In fact, February is Library Lovers Month!
Because the Shepherd Park Neighborhood Library loves you, our customers, as much as we hope you love us, we invite you to join us for some fun in February. Do you ever feel like you are "stuck in a rut" when it comes to the books you read? Do you want to expand your reading horizons? During the month of February, the Shepherd Park Neighborhood Library invites you to "blind date" a book and potentially spread the library love.
You may be wondering, "How do you propose I take a book on a blind date?"
It's easy, and you don't even have to buy the book dinner! Visit the Shepherd Park Library anytime during the month of February and choose one of the books from the main display table. Here's the fun part: The book will be wrapped, and you won't be able to know the title of the book until you get home and unwrap it! There will be a brief description of the book on the wrapping, but otherwise, the book will be a surprise.
All titles are hand-picked as favorites of the Shepherd Park Library staff, books that we love and hope that you too might love. To make this activity more fun, if you promise to at least try reading 50 pages of your "blind date" book, and fill out the "Rate the Date" survey that is taped to the cover of your date, you will be eligible to win a prize from our random drawing that will take place on March 1.
