What Was Your Dream, Dr. King? by Mary Kay Carson is a wonderful resource to teach young children about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
This book has been set up in question-and-answer format, answering many questions about Dr. King, segregation, Civil Rights and the March on Washington. It has many beautiful illustrations depicting the history of the civil rights movement.
The latter part of the book covers Dr. King's "I Had A Dream" speech, which took place on Aug. 28, 1963. It is a message of action, reminding readers that Dr. King’s dream has not been fully accomplished. The ending is, however, still full of hope as the reader can easily see how far we have come since then.
