Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
Published on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 - 2:50pm
Did you know that February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month? To inform teens about the issue and about human trafficking, Teen Space has partnered with Fair Girls to host two workshops. On Feb. 13 and Feb. 20, from 4 p.m. to 5:15 , join us in Teen Space, room 208, for:
Tell Your Friends: Preventing Trafficking & Sexual Abuse of Youth. In this two-part workshop series, teens will learn about their rights and responsibilities in intimate relationships, gain a deeper understanding of sexual violence and exploitation, and get connected to helpful resources.
The workshops will be lead by FAIR Girls, an internationally-recognized nonprofit that prevents the exploitation of girls worldwide with empowerment and education. To learn more about Fair Girls, visit their website.
You can also learn more and download free educational resources on the Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month website. Don't forget to stop by Teen Space and ask Library staff about books that explore teen dating violence and human trafficking! You should also check out Teen Health and Wellness, one of the Library's databases that provides information about physical and emotional health, eating disorders, drugs, sexuality, dating and more.
