Children's Chinese New Year Celebration

dragonbooks
On Monday, Feb. 11, the Petworth Children's Room celebrated Chinese New Year.

We learned about Chinese New Year customs, watched a video of a dragon dance, found our Chinese zodiac animals, and danced with red crepe paper to Chinese music. Each child received a red good luck envelope with candy and a fortune cookie inside. We made dragon puppets because dragons are lucky.

We also made snakes because 2013 is the year of the snake.

Stay tuned for more fun kids' programs at the Petworth Library!
