Every Hero Has a Story
This year's Summer Reading theme is Every Hero Has a Story.

Kids ages 6-12 can visit the library and sign up. Read at least 8 hours this summer to win 2 FREE tickets to a Washington Nationals baseball game and a coupon for a FREE Chipotle burrito.

Kids who read at least 28 hours can join The League of Extraordinary Readers and be entered for a chance to win lunch with seven famous children's authors.

Hands-On Workshops and Fun Performances

Library staff have planned oodles of fun, engaging activities that explore the fascinating world of science, technology, engineering, art and math. Check the calendar of events for details.

Science in the Summer

This summer, learn about science and simple machines at DC Public Library. Discover how and why machines can lift huge boulders, build bridges and pump water. Learn about the six kinds of simple machines and build machines that help people to do work more easily. 

Sessions will be held at the following library locations:
