Summer Reading for Kids
This year's Summer Reading theme is Fizz, Boom, Read! Visit your neighborhood library to sign up. Win a prize just for signing up. Get your reading log and start tracking your reading.
Your goal is to read at least 8 hours this summer. Once you've read 4 hours, bring your reading log back to the library to get a coupon for a FREE Chipotle burrito. When you complete 8 hours, bring your log back again. Pick out a free book to keep and get 2 FREE tickets to catch a Washington Nationals baseball game.
Hands-On Workshops and Fun Performances
Library staff have planned oodles of fun, engaging activities that explore the fascinating world of science, technology, engineering, art and math. Check the calendar of events for details.
Once you have completed 8 hours of reading, ask a librarian about becoming a beaker breaker. For every 20 hours of reading you complete beyond your first 8 hours earns you an entry into a special raffle drawing. 52 lucky readers (2 from each library location) will win lunch with a group of famous children's authors.
