Spotlight on Databases: Universal Class

This posting marks a new monthly series featuring one of the many wonderful databases that we subscribe to at DC Public Library. Many customers don't realize all the online information they can access - for free, from home, 24/7 - with just their library card!
One of our newest databases is called Universal Class. This database contains more than 500 classes on a huge range of topics. Are you looking to brush up on your skills in book keeping/finance, writing, or computer basics? They have several courses on these and similar subjects. Maybe you’re interested in starting a home-based or small business, or you want to learn new skills to make you more marketable for a new career. If so, try out courses such as Medical Billing, Legal Studies, or HTML for starters. Or maybe you’re looking for something fun to do in your retirement or as a hobby. There are classes on drawing, gardening, photography, and much more!
Register for free by creating a username and password, enter your library card number, and you’re ready to go. You can take up to five courses at a time and have six months to complete them on your own schedule, any time of day. You can also communicate with your course instructor via e-mail. While these courses are not for credit, they are for personal enrichment, skill development and lifelong learning.
What are you waiting for? Learn something new, or brush up on your skills, today!
