Abraham and the Baggage We Make Him Carry

Wednesday, October 2, 2013 - 7 p.m.

Daniel MadiganProfessor Daniel Madigan of Georgetown University lectures on the book "Children of Abraham."  People often think of the idea that we are all children of Abraham as a warm and fuzzy key to mutual understanding among Jews, Christians and Muslims. However, from the way Abraham is claimed in these three traditions, we can see that there is some sibling rivalry to be dealt with first.

The Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys is a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities, conducted in cooperation with the American Library Association. Support was provided by a grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York. Additional support for the arts and media components was provided by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.
