The Conference of the Birds

Tuesday, November 5, 2013 - 7 p.m.

Daniel MadiganProfessor Daniel Madigan of Georgetown University will speak on God as Sovereign and Lover in "The Conference of the Birds." This wonderful 13-century Persian poem -- the forerunner to Rumi's famous works -- recounts the story of the birds who set out in search of their king and all that they face on the journey. In fact, the poem is a handbook of the spiritual life suffused with a sense of the divine king as both lover and beloved.
