CONNECT 4 is a series of temporary public art projects in the lobby of Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Partnership with Flashpoint Gallery and CulturalDC. This series takes Flashpoint's visual arts program off-site and enlivens the library space with work by local contemporary artists. The participating artists in CONNECT 4 are Brian Davis, Nekisha Durrett, Sam Scharf and Anna Tsouhlarakis.

The series will kick-off with work from two artists – Brian Davis’ Circuit and Nekisha Durrett’s O’er Yonder. Circuit consists of vintage and contemporary chairs arranged in an outward-facing circle. The chairs and lights are connected by a structure of boards, bolts and wires that respond and switch on and off whenever a chair is occupied. This piece will encourage visitors to become active participants in an artwork. O’er Yonder is inspired directly by graphic novels from the Library’s collection and will feature large-scale color illustrations.

There will be an opening reception with the artists on Tuesday, May 7 from 5-7 p.m. in the lobby of the library.
