"Asian Lounge" Music in the Putumayo Presents series

May is Asian-Pacific Islander Month

Cover Image of Asian Lounge Asia is rich in musical heritage. Since it's Asian-Pacific Islander Month, here's a music CD you will enjoy. It's Asian Lounge, which is part of the "Lounge" series from Putumayo.

The album features artists from -- to list a few -- Japan, India, Indonesia, the U.K. and France. There is a mix of traditional Asian and modern Western music in the songs.  Some tracks are instrumental, others have vocals in various Asian languages. The opening track by the Yoshida Brothers sets the theme of the album. As the album progresses, the music varies from relaxing to upbeat.

Except for Dr. Deepak Chopra, best-selling author and doctor who specializes in holistic medicine, I didn't know any of the artists, so the accompanying liner notes were informative.

If you enjoy listening to world music or are interested in exploring the genre, this album is a good introduction.  I enjoyed it.

Copies of "Putumayo Presents: Asian Lounge" are available to check out in the system.
