Celebrating Play in the Month of May
Published on Thursday, May 9, 2013 - 10:02am
It’s about time spring rolled around and D.C. got some warm weather.
This spring, the William O. Lockridge/Bellevue Library is celebrating by getting ready for Summer Reading and playing outside! Because May is Physical Fitness and Sports Month, the library children’s room will be displaying information and books about how to play sports as well as showing off some of our collection’s biographies of famous athletes.
No matter what sport you are interested in, there’s a book here waiting for you to read it!
For example, you should come in and take a look at our biography picture book on women’s soccer player, Mia Hamm: Mia Hamm Winners Never Quit.
In this book for younger readers, Mia Hamm shows that no matter how much you love winning and hate losing, the most important thing is that you get on the field willing to play and be a team player.
While you’re here, stop by and say hello to Miss Jen, the new children’s librarian and get some information about upcoming crafts and other programs.
One of our upcoming programs is our Saturday Homework Help Hour. This program will run on alternating Saturdays (this month it will be on May 11 and May 25). Make sure to drop by in between taking advantage of the great May weather.
