Meet Author Mike Canning

Whether you are a film aficionado or just curious about films that have been set in D.C., you should definitely check out the recently released book by Mike Canning.
Hollywood on the Potomac: How the Movies View Washington DC offers a comprehensive look at significant commercial feature films of the Sound Era (1930-2011) which treat Washington, D.C. as either the subject, background, or as incidental material. The book is intended for fans and students of both movies and politics, and especially those who, like the author, combine the two interests. While it is most specifically addressed to Washingtonians curious about how their town has been depicted in this country's most popular art form, it is also addressed to the general reader.
This event will take place at Southeast Neighborhood Library on Thursday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m. Copies of the book will be available for sale.
