Book Club Title for June

'In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto'

Cover image for the nonfiction book by Michael Pollan, In Defense of Food: An Eater's ManifestoWith his previous books, The Omnivore’s Dilemma and The Botany of Desire, Michael Pollan helped create a national conversation on the subject of food:

  • What exactly is it that we’re eating as we strive toward a healthier lifestyle?
  • Are these food-like substances, pumped full of nutrients and with health warnings, compliments of the latest food science, actually a good substitute for the unprocessed real food our parents ate?
  • Is it wise to consume items so far removed from the natural food chain—our natural food chain?

Join us Wednesday, July 10 in the meeting room at 7 p.m. for a lively discussion of this book.
