Takoma Park's Edible Book Contest

This past Saturday, Takoma Park Library hosted an Edible Book Contest in honor of the Read In, offering lovers of books and reading a chance to engage with their favorite stories in new ways--through food! Everyone had a great time admiring, sampling, and voting on this year's entries. Participants could get a new perspective on their favorite characters by preparing and eating foods that reminded them of the book characters! There were only two rules: the entries needed to symbolize a book in some way, and they needed to be 100 percent made out of food!
June's chocolate cake representing How to Eat Fried Worms won for both "Most Creative" and "Best Tasting." Megan's A Raisin in the Sun cookies took the prize for "Best Looking." Other entries included Minnie's chocolate pie from The Help and spiderweb cookies in tribute to the beloved Charlotte's Web.
It's always fun to get creative with the books you love!
