GringoJ. Grigsby Crawford is a writer living in Washington, D.C. His first book, The Gringo, chronicles his dark and thrilling adventures as a Peace Corps volunteer in South America and is described as "always entertaining and at times moving" by Men's Journal.

The gonzo journalism account of his two years in the Amazon has also been called "a compelling study in human endurance" by other reviewers, meanwhile sparking debate about the relevance of the Peace Corps in the 21st century.
