Are you ready to explore new taste experiences? Would you be willing to try a mushroom chickpea burger? Have you ever heard of pomegranate molasses?
Jump aboard the Teen Space Caravan Express to see what is relished in Israel and the Republic of Georgia.
The caravan has arrived at Teen Space, the residence of Sam Stern's Get Cooking and Matthew Locricchio's Teen Cuisine: New Vegetarian.
Let's look through Get Cooking to discover a match with an essential Middle Eastern bean the chick pea. Explore Stern's Hummus recipe (140) with its traditional use of garlic, cilantro, and paprika. Sure, it is tasty, but add the following popular Israeli flavor of smoky paprika with a Georgian garnish of pomegranate seeds to ramp up the flavor.
A tasty adventure awaits us with the mushroom chickpea burger recipe in Get Cooking (62). In order to transform this dish into the flavors of Israel and Georgia, replace lemongrass with ground coriander, lime with pomegranate molasses, and tabasco sauce with the smooth gentle heat of Aleppo pepper.
Note that Aleppo is a city in Syria. Although not on this journey, Aleppo's namesake spice has been adopted throughout the eastern Mediterranean region. In-depth directions on where to source ingredients will be given by the Caravan Express Guide, Teen Librarian Ms. Rosenblatt.
