If you haven’t already signed up for summer reading, what are you waiting for? Come in to the library and sign up today!
This year we have 4 different programs, covering everyone from babies to adults.
For our youngest patrons, ages birth to 5, we have the “Read with Me” program. Children and their grown-ups get to do all sorts of fun pre-literacy activities together and children can earn bibs, sippy cups and free board books. We’re also giving away one family membership to the National Children’s Museum.
For kids ages 6-11, we have our “Dig Into Reading” program. Track the time you spend reading this summer and win cool prizes.
For fours hour of reading we are giving away free burritos from Chipotle. For 8 hours of reading we have free books you can chose from. Every child who completes 8 hours of reading also gets their name in a raffle for a Kindle Fire and for Nationals tickets!
Are you a teen and want to get some prizes for that summer reading you’re doing? Sign up online for our “Beneath The Surface” reading program. You receive a prize just for signing up. Then read six books to win a free Chipotle Burrito and a chance to win a pair of Beats Solo Headphones and tickets to a Nationals game.
We also have an essay contest for teens this summer. Write a one-page review telling us which book you think is the must-read book of the summer for teens, and you might win one of four laptops! Check out our website for more details.
Adults shouldn’t feel left out, we have a summer reading program for you too this year! Our brand new adult summer reading program, "Groundbreaking Reads", gives grown-ups a chance to get in on the fun!
Earn a prize just for signing up. When you finish a book, write a short review and submit it at the library. The first 100 people at each location to submit a book review will win a reusable shopping bag. Each time you finish a book and submit a review, you will be entered into the grand prize drawing for an eReader. Each library will hold a separate drawing, and you may enter as many reviews as you wish between June 1 and Aug. 24.
Summer isn’t over yet, you still have plenty of time to sign up and get reading this summer!
