The Library of Congress is sponsoring its annual summer writing contest. "A Book That Shaped Me" encourages rising fifth- and sixth-graders to reflect on a book that has made a personal impact on their lives. All DC Public Libraries are participating in this program.
State Finalists, State Winners, and Grand Prize Winners will be honored during a presentation at the 2013 Library of Congress National Book Festival on the National Mall in Washington, DC. The festival will take place September 21-22, 2013.
To enter, write a short essay on a book that has made a difference in your life. More information on the contest can be found at the Library of Congress website.
Submit your essay in-person by Monday, Aug. 12 to any DC Public Library location, along with a completed contest entry form containing your parent or guardian's signature.
