Science Fiction and Fantasy Book Club

Books: the next best things to portals to other realities. The Science Fiction and Fantasy Book Club meets monthly to discuss science fiction and fantasy books—as defined by the members.

Past selections include Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor and Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card.

This September, we will be gathering to talk about Fledgling by Octavia E. Butler. All are welcome, from longtime fans with burning grudges against one subgenre or another, to people who angrily deny the utility of the SF/Fantasy idiom as a fit subject for a book club, to those poor benighted souls who have never in their life read a science fiction or fantasy novel.

If you like sparkling discussion of scientific, sociopolitical, psychological, ethical and metaphysical ideas, if you dare to contemplate the raw essence of fiction, where narrative, character, and theme run together, and the very substance of the artistic act is a matter of some debate, then the SF/Fantasy Book Club is for you!
