Summer reading season has come to an end at the Southwest Neighborhood Library! We had a great turnout this year with more than 70 finishers!
Everyone who finished got to choose a book to add to their personal, at-home library, a flower pot to display on the wall and was entered into a raffle to win some awesome prizes, including a pair of Nationals tickets and a Kindle Fire!
We did our raffle drawing for the Kindle Fire and the winner was Michaela! She came into the library yesterday to pick up her prize and tell us a little about herself.
Michaela is in 2nd grade and her favorite subject is math. She likes mysteries and her favorite book that she read this summer was Cam Jansen and the Mystery of the Stolen Diamonds by David Adler. When she's not reading up a storm, Michaela likes listening to music (Katy Perry and One Direction are two of her favorites!) and doing arts and crafts.
Michaela is really excited about her new Kindle Fire and says that it's going to help her with her homework this year. She's also looking forward to playing games on it!
Here are a few other ways that Michaela can use her Kindle Fire:
- Check out awesome books from the library's downloadable e-book collection
- Listen to audiobooks from the library's downloadable audiobook collection
- Download music, both through freegal (she gets to keep those songs forever!) and through the library's downloadable music collection
- Homework help with the library's videobooks, including picture books and non-fiction resources.
So congratulations Michaela, we can't wait to see how you use your Kindle Fire and remember, if you ever need any help getting your Kindle Fire set up, or downloading any books, you can always come into the library and we'd be happy to help!
