The Man Booker Prize this year went to British author Hilary Mantel for her historical novel Wolf Hall based on the life of Thomas Cromwell. Cromwell was a pivotal figure in the always absorbing story of King Henry VIII and his many wives.
The Man Booker prize is awarded to the single novel deemed the best of the year written by a citizen of the British Commonweatlth or the Republic of Ireland. The Booker winners are sometimes quirkly and always interesting. On Tuesday, February 16, the Palisades Book Club will meet at 7:30 to discuss the 2008 Booker winner The White Tiger by Aravind Ardiga.
