Congratulations Gabriel!

Last week you got to meet Michaela, the winner of our summer reading Kindle Fire drawing for grade school children. This week we want to introduce you to Gabriel.

We know Gabriel and his grandmother as regular story time participants. Gabriel loves the book Duck at the Door by Jackie Urbanovic and any book about trucks! This summer Gabriel and his family, including his mom, dad and grandmother, worked together to finish the library's special reading program for younger children from birth to 5 years old called Read With Me.

We're thrilled to announce that Gabriel was the winner of our special raffle for the Read With Me summer reading program. He won a big bag full of amazing books, carefully selected for maximum fun!

The game sheet that Gabriel used for the summer reading program had lots of fun activities that promote early literacy and reading readiness. Gabriel and his family sang songs together, came to library programs, practiced counting, recited nursery rhymes and talked about what they saw on walks through the neighborhood.

Gabriel and his family will now be entered into a system wide raffle for a year's membership to the National Children's Museum at National Harbor. We're trying not to be biased, but we really hope that they win!
