Fantasy Flicks arrives @ MLK

New film series to feature a wide array of Science Fiction & Fantasy films
Purple Godzilla

Okay, you can uncross your fingers and open your eyes.  Your wish has finally come true.  Fantasy Flicks is Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library's newest film series.  It's just what it says on the tin: movies with some element of realism, some parsimonious narrative shred of the numinous, the impossible, the beguilingly made-up. Planets uninhabited and otherwise, fairies, space marines, time travel, wayward otherworldly machines, and the reality-bending light-out-of-darkness of every universe.  And, perhaps, a little adventure and romance, if our voyage permits.

Films will be screened on the third Monday of every month at 6 p.m. in Room A-5, located on library's lower level. Films are followed on Tuesday evenings by our new Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Club, which meets monthly in Room 221 at 7 p.m.

Ridley Scott's final cut of Blade Runner will be our inaugural film. It will show on Monday, Sept. 16. Check our handy online Calendar of Events or the Program Board outside the Popular Library (just look for Godzilla) every month for the times and dates of future features.

So strap in, check your oxygen, and remember that variety is the spice of our selections.
