Embracing change is a sign of growth and evidence of life. As of Oct. 1, Petworth's Mature and Motivated will implement new programs and embrace a shift to our schedule:
- NEW! Afternoon Asanas -- Chair Yoga especially tailored to adults aged 50+ and persons with limited mobility who have doctor consent. Beginning Sunday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. and meeting thereafter every second and fourth Sunday at 3 p.m. Please call 202-243-1187 or stop by to register.
- Petworth Pacers -- Now twice per month! -- A walking fitness program to help you add a little more pep to your step! Look and feel great and make new friends as we record our progress, share best practices and use library resources to further our knowledge on health and well-being. Please call 202-243-1187 or stop by to register. Beginning Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1:30 p.m. in the Second-Floor Program Room. This program will meet thereafter every first Sunday and every third Thursday each month at 1:30 p.m.
- NEW! Train Your Brain Games -- With many older Americans living with dementia, people are talking about prevention and "neuroplasticity." Join us at Petworth Library for fun, good-natured competition with adult brain games to help prolong healthy development, learning, memory and flexibility in thinking. Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. and meeting thereafter every second Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. in the lower level Conference Room.
** Did you know that on Dec. 14, 1990, the United Nations designated Oct. 1 as the "International Day of Older Persons?" Petworth's Mature and Motivated and elder adult advocacy organizations such as Ageless Alliance recommend that we observe this date and reflect on different opportunities we all can take within our communities to celebrate the older adults in our lives!**
