The summer of 1776 was a spectacle of war, politics, and the birth of a new nation. Revolutionary Summer is the latest book by author and historian Joseph Ellis, which deals with this tumultuous and formative period in America’s history.
In Revolutionary Summer, Joseph Ellis continues to impress and educate the reader as he has done in the past with Founding Brothers and The American Sphinx. Ellis attempts not only to inform readers of the events of that troubled summer, but also allows us to understand the primary players and their decisions in their own time. The context that he provides in conjunction with his excellent writing, allows those of us with only a minimal understanding of these historical events to follow along and enjoy.
Anyone with the slightest interest in the American Revolution and the founding of the United States of America should take the time to enjoy this excellent piece of historical writing.
