Often cited and rarely read, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a landmark legislative work of inestimable importance in American history.
In recognition of the civil rights theme of Black History Month 2014, the Southwest Library will be sponsoring a Civil Rights Act of 1964 Read-a-Thon on Feb. 3, beginning at 5 p.m. and concluding at 8 p.m. or when the entire Act has been read, whichever comes first.
Volunteers are welcome to read the text in 15-minute blocks. To sign up to read in advance, or for additional information, contact the Southwest Library at 202-724-4298.
