First Meeting for the Graphic Novel Book Club

Attack Bunnies with Poster by Jarrett Krosoczka The first Graphic Novel Book Club of the Georgetown Library got their hamburger headphones and spork phones ready for a discussion of Lunch Lady and the Author Visit Vendetta by Jarrett J. Krosoczka.

We had a rousing discussion about what superpowers we would have given the attack bunnies in the story. Several of our readers also noticed that the villain’s gym teacher was partly to blame for the crime, for his bullying of the villain when he was young.

While we talked, the kids munched on rabbit crackers in honor of the diabolical bunnies in the book. After analyzing some of the panels in the story for visual clues to add to our discussion, we moved on to create our own “Attack Peeps” -- like in the story! -- out of felt.

The next meeting of the Graphic Novel Book Club will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 4 p.m.

We'll be discussing Amulet Book 1: The Stonekeeper by Kazu Kibuishi.

Please see the Children's Desk at the Georgetown Library to check out a copy of the book.
