Calling All Babies

Baby Lapsit is a class created to help foster early literacy skills during the first year of life. Concepts such as print recognition, colors, shapes, and vocabulary start within the first year of a baby's development. Singing songs, repeating rhymes and reading short simple books can help foster growth that builds a foundation for later learning. It also provides an opportunity for babies to socialize and enjoy the company of other children in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
This new program will take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Park Library. Each baby will physically sit in the lap of a caregiver while we sing songs, repeat rhymes and read short age-appropriate books. After that the children will have the chance to play with toys and socialize.
You can register in person at the Children's Desk at the Cleveland Park Library, on the phone at 202-282-3073, or by emailing Julie. Walk-ins are, of course, welcome, but each session is limited to 20 babies and priority will be given to people who have registered. The program is limited to the target group of children between the age of 0-12 months--no older siblings please!
If you have any questions or comments please don't hesitate to call or contact Julie. Hope to see you there!
