World-famous poet and author Maya Angelou's extraordinary life has been recorded in her numerous autobiographies, but never before has her relationship with her mother been exposed.
Deeply personal and devastatingly moving, Mom & Me & Mom chronicles the victories and struggles endured by Angelou and the events that led to her mother sending her to Arkansas to be raised by her grandmother. A decade of dealing with feelings of abandonment and misunderstanding ultimately comes to a head when Angelou is reunited with her mother and for the first time is able to ask the questions she hid away and the balance between love and respect is a boat that will continue to rock the rest of their lives.
Join us on Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the autobiography by Maya Angelou that reveals a mother-daughter relationship can unequivocally reside on fine line between fierce optimism and bitter resentment.
