We are very excited here in the Bellevue Library Children's Room! This month is bringing a ton of fun programs and very many of them are focused on Martin Luther King Jr.
As part of the MLK Week celebration, the library will be offering T-shirt making, an educational program called the March from Selma to Montgomery, and, at the end of the month, we will even be having a program entitled the Glorious March to Liberty.
For the T-shirt making program, we will be helping 15 of you all to design your own "I Have a Dream" themed shirts. Start thinking of what you dream of now, and you could be wearing it in a few weeks! This program will occur in two parts and will meet on Jan. 13 and Jan. 16 at 4 p.m.
The March from Selma to Montgomery will be appropriate for schools and we look forward to seeing any school groups who are interested in attending. This program will take place on Jan. 14 at 1:15 p.m.
Finally, at the end of the month, on Jan. 28, we will be featuring an opportunity to handle reproduced Civil War artifacts and will provide the chance to learn about the movement to recruit African Americans into military service as well as their participation in the military between 1863-1867. This program will take place at 10 a.m.
We welcome you to attend these programs either as individuals or with your class and look forward to seeing you soon!
