Mother Courage and Her ChildrenMother Courage and Her Children is a play written by Bertolt Brecht in response to the outbreak of World War II.

The setting is the Thirty Years War in the 17th-century Europe.  The play follows the adventures of Anna Fierling, nicknamed Mother Courage, an unforgettable character, as she drags her children and sells her wares across Europe.
