Promoting Peace...Each One Teach One

Drop by MLK Memorial Library to admire our collective exhibit!

scrollDuring MLK Jr Week (Jan. 12-19), roughly 60 children and families took the time to decorate a peace symbol for our "Let's Promote Peace" mural and they read, discussed and signed our Peace Pledge scroll.

The pledge was inspired by the vision and mission of Dr. King and incorporated many of his inspirational quotes. We displayed our finished mural and scroll project at Rosedale for an additional week, then transported it to MLK Memorial Library to join with the King Week projects created citywide by children and youth at 12 other DC Public Library branches.

Almost five hours in the making (phew!) we arranged and mounted all the participating libraries' Peace Murals and Dream Walls for a collaborative Black History Month exhibit to promote peace, equality and unity.

Please encourage others to stop by MLK Jr. Memorial Library's A-Level display space to view the full colorful, creative final product!
