TED Talks at Petworth
Published on Friday, January 17, 2014 - 9:08am
Started with a focus on technology, entertainment, and design (TED), TED Talks are short presentations that now cover a variety of topics – from history to science to storytelling and more – all given by today’s most inspiring and innovative thinkers and doers.
Two great things about TED Talks:
- most of them are 18 minutes or less in length, so you could learn something new or be dazzled by a good story while you drink your morning coffee
- they’re all freely available to watch on TED.com
Want to see Bobby McFerrin "play his audience"?
Want to find out how an obese town in Oklahoma lost over a million pounds?
Want to learn how to defend Earth from asteroids?
TED Talks cover these topics and so much more, and most of them take less time to watch than the average sitcom. TED.com adds new talks every week, too, so you’ll never run out of things to watch and learn!
Starting Jan. 26, we’ll be showing some of these fascinating presentations once a month at Petworth Library. Join us at 1:30 p.m. as we learn secrets about healthy habits for living longer and coping with the stresses of daily life.
