Job Seekers Drop-In and Legal Clinic

Are you a job seeker in need of assistance with your job search process?  Are you a job seeker or a recently hired employee?  Are you having difficulties getting or keeping a job?  Then please attend the Job Seekers Drop-In and Legal Clinic, sponsored by the DC Public Library and the Neighborhood Legal Services Program, where you will be able to accomplish job search tasks and address any job seeking issues that can be legally resolved.

Both Drop-In and Legal Clinic services are conducted in the Computer Lab, Room 311, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The Job Seekers Drop-In Clinic: Receive Individualized Assistance with the Following Job-seeking Tasks:
 
  • Creating an email account;
  • Establishing a job board account;
  • Building your résumé;
  • Conducting online job searches; and
  • Completing online job applications.
The Job Seeker Legal Clinic: Consult with an Attorney About Your Barriers to Employment

 Meet with an attorney from Neighborhood Legal Services Program (NLSP) to find out if you have a barrier to employment that a lawyer may be able to help you resolve.  You can get information about issues such as criminal record sealing, credit reports, background checks, obtaining driving and professional licenses, resolving back child support arrearages, wage theft, and other issues.  Advanced appointment is not necessary.  For more information, please call the Welcome Desk at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library on (202) 727-0321 or the Customer Training Coordinator on (202) 727-1471.  Neighborhood Legal Services Program provides free legal advice, information and representation to low-income District residents.
