Jacob Lawrence: Story Painter
In celebration of Black History Month, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library presents a program on one of the most significant Black artists. Jacob Lawrence's career spanned the period from the Harlem Renaissance to 1997. His distinctive artwork chronicles the migration of African Americans and tells the stories of ordinary people as well as heroes.
From the time that he was a young boy, his artwork was influenced by shapes and patterns. Our art activity will explore our neighborhoods and daily lives through this prism.
