Love is in the air...

Valentine's Day Event in the Library

Valentine's Day is over. Did you enjoy your day like we did? Dare I say that there is a feeling of love left over in the air?

All month, our patrons filled out special notes to their beloved book, author or character. While some patrons were a little shy about showing their heart, others came right out with their devotion.

But that's not all, as the children in story time read special stories such as See a Heart, Share a Heart by Eric Telchin. A rollicking good time was enjoyed by all as the children made cards for their friends or family.

However, even in a season devoted to such a sweet holiday, sometimes somber subjects need to be addressed. "Wear orange" was a prevalent theme throughout the month in honor of teen dating violence awareness. From discussion to an activity in which participants created a poster detailing their thoughts on love, our patrons walked away on a more thoughtful note. You might find titles such as When Dating Becomes Dangerous: a parent's guide to preventing relationship abuse by Patricia Occhiuzzo Giggans and Barrie Levy relevant to this topic.

Valentine's Day is only a day but our love for books will continue. Thanks to our patrons for making all of these events so great!
