A Visit from Petworth's Own Engine 24

On Saturday, Feb. 15, firefighters from Engine 24 in Petworth came to the library to talk to families about how to prevent fires, and what to do in case of a fire. On the side of the fire engine was written "Pride of Petworth" and "Petworth Predators" with a picture of a panther holding a fire hose.

The firefighters were on duty when they came to visit us, and we were lucky that they had time to talk to us and take us on their fire engine.

Inside the truck, we saw helmets, boots, axes, oxygen tanks and fire-proof gear ready to jump into if they got called to a fire.

All the children got firefighter hats with the DC Fire Department Logo.

Everyone learned a lot, and had a lot of fun.

Thank you, Engine 24, for helping our city every day.
