Artists’ Books: What Are They and Where Are They in D.C.?
Artists’ books are works of art in book form that may have unusual bindings, vibrant typography, colorful images, fine printing techniques, digital interventions, and/or sculptural elements. They play with the conventions of the book and expectations of reading.
Come up to Room 220 to hear Michelle Strizever, creator of the www.artistsbooksdc.com and artists' book enthusiast, as she discusses artists’ books in D.C., her website, and research techniques for finding these fun, surprising and exhilarating books.
You will also have the chance to look at and explore some of Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library’s artists’ books like the image at left from Me a Mound by Trenton Hancock Doyle.
