Takoma Park Comic Swap

What question would you ask a comic book creator if you had the chance?

photo of comic swap on 5/10/14I'm still smiling after our First Ever Comic Swap last Saturday. We had a great time here at Takoma Park talking with you all about your favorite titles, giving away free comics, zines, trades, and graphic novels, and checking out books for you from our amazing collection.

Since our first Swap was so successful, we will be out again this Saturday giving away comics, graphic novels, and zines, and hopefully doing some super swapping!

We are also going to join other DCPL kids in creating a list of questions for Patty Reeber, Children's Librarian at Cleveland Park Library, to ask comic creators when she attends Comic-Con in July.

If you want to ask some of your favorite comic creators questions about the industry or their work, or get advice, now is a great opportunity! So take some time, and think: what would you ask a comic book creator if you had the chance?

For those of us who can't make it out to San Diego, another great way to experience the awesome fun that is Comic-Con, is to check-out titles from our collection that have been nominated for Eisner Awards this year. The awards will be given out on Friday, July 25 at Comic-Con, so start reading titles now, and see if your favorites from the DCPL collection win!

Here are a few of my favorites for kiddos and teens, if you are wondering where to start. I'll have to chime in with other category recommendations later, or this story will start to get on the epic side of long!
