Training Factory: Intro to Publishing
Capital Fringe is proud to create an environment which fosters innovation and original work. For many artists, after going through the trial-by-fire of presenting their work to the public, the next step is to publish their work for a wider audience. This session will look at the world of publishing, for both theatrical scripts and popular music.
By engaging a number of experienced artists, we'll talk through the processes involved in preparing a piece for publishing, the benefits and pitfalls, and what to expect after work gets published. We'll discuss the pros and cons of getting an agent and more non-traditional ways of getting work to publishers - through festivals, conferences and contests. And we'll get into the nitty gritty of self-publishing in both the music and script world - how to do it, and wither it makes a difference to the future of the piece.
This program is part of the Training Factory series of programs produced by Capital Fringe and sponsored by the DC Public Library Foundation.
