May 16, 2012 marks the two-year anniversary of the death of Charles Louis “Chuck” Brown, who was affectionately known as “The Godfather of Go-Go.”  Since then, the DC Public Library’s Special Collections Division has been building a go-go music Chuck Brown archival collection to document this exclusively DC genre of music and culture.

View news articles, photographs, books, and oral history transcripts from the Library’s Special Collections Department documenting this popular genre of music that is exclusively DC.

The Go-Go Music/Chuck Brown Archive Collection Initiative is an on-going process and DC Public Library's Special Collections Department continues to collect items to document this genre of DC music and culture.  If you are interested in donating tapes, CDs, buttons, concert flyers and programs, or any other type of paraphernalia, please contact Derek Gray, DC Community Archivist, at (202) 727-2272 orderek.gray2@dc.gov.
