Stephen Wade: The Beautiful Music All Around Us

Stephen WadeIn a performance of live music, projected images, and spoken narrative, Grammy-nominated musician Stephen Wade will explore iconic American folksongs and their back stories drawn from his award-winning new book,The Beautiful Music All Around Us: Field Recordings and the American Experience. 

Wade has sought out the performers, families and acquaintances from thirteen American folk recordings to reconstruct how this music worked in each of their lives. The Beautiful Music All Around Us and accompanying CD will be available for purchase during the event with a book signing after, or you can purchase directly through the University of Illinois Press. Join us for an incredible evening in the Great Hall presented by the wonderful performer and storyteller, Stephen Wade, and celebrate Summer Reading at your local public library!
