Summer reading starts on June 1 at the Northeast Neighborhood Library, and you are invited to join us for three months of stories, activities and adventures. Readers of all ages are invited to sign up to win prizes for reading books and participating in activities.
Children ages birth to twelve can sign up for their summer reading programs at the library. In Read with Me, children up to age five are invited to have an adult read with them or participate in a learning activity. For completing different activities they will get a Nationals soft baseball, a rubber duck, and a book.
Kids ages six to twelve can earn prizes as well by reading in fifteen minute intervals in the Fizz, Boom, Read program. Along with other prizes, children who complete eight hours of reading will get a voucher for two Nationals tickets, a book and an entry into a raffle for a on-field experience at Nationals Park.
Teens can participate in Spark a Reaction by earning online badges for reading and completing a variety of exciting activities. In addition to other prizes, teens who complete the program will be entered into a raffle for Washington Nationals tickets with an exclusive pre-game, on-field experience or a pair of Beats by Dre Headphones.
Adults are invited to learn about Literary Elements to earn a shopping bag, Chipotle coupon, and a book. All adults who complete the reading program at the Northeast Neighborhood Library will be entered to win a Amazon Kindle e-reader and a limited edition War of the Worlds book.
Besides earning rewards for reading and learning this summer, the Northeast Neighborhood Library will have a variety of great events happening over the next three months. We're adding new ones all the time, so make sure to continue to check the calendar for the latest!
