The DC Public Library celebrates the life and work of Walter Dean Myers, beloved children's author and friend of the library. Throughout his long career Myers authored more than 100 titles for children and young adults, including Fallen Angels, Monster, and Motown and Didi, which won the Coretta Scott King Award. His work also earned a Michael L. Printz Award for young-adult literature, the Margaret A. Edwards Award, and two Newbery Medal nominations. In 2012, Myers was named the Library of Congress National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, a position created to raise awareness about the importance of literacy and education. DCPL is proud to have a selection of Myers' works in the catalog.
