Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Fans of Harry Potter have created everything from handcrafts and artwork to websites and conventions. What happens, though, when those fans have advanced degrees and apply the questions of their academic disciplines to the story of the boy who lived? This workshop will explore scholarship on J.K. Rowling's best selling novels and investigate how academics in various disciplines have drawn upon the works as inspiration for their own writings.

Tolonda Henderson is a librarian at George Washington University. She has presented her work on the library at Hogwarts at several academic conferences and is currently researching Harry Potter and visual culture.
