Last Call: The Rise and Fall of ProhibitionAre you fascinated by history?
Are you intrigued by the lives of other people?
Want to spend some time reading entertaining books and talking to like-minded individuals?

If so, join us for the H&B (history and biography) book club, where we will be reading some of the more popular titles that deal with the world’s stimulating past events and people.

This month we will be discussing Daniel Okrent's entertaining look at booze, mobsters, and government in his book Last Call: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition. Why did Americans fight so hard to end a favorite past time, and what did it take to repeal it only 13 years later?  Mr. Okrent's book discusses the incredible lengths that Americans would go to get their fix of their favorite intoxicants.  Last Call is a delightful and fascinating look at one of America's most intriguing periods.

We hope you will join us on the second floor in Room 221 for an entertaining and enlightening discussion on this and other interesting works.
