The Music Connection at Palisades
Published on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 - 11:56am
Clapping, tapping, bouncing, swaying,
Bending, marching, stretching, dancing;
Bells, shakers, sticks and drum;
Classical music, jazz, ethnic and folk. . .
And favorite children’s songs included!
This is what The Music Connection is all about – and there is a connection
between music and early literacy.
In addition to providing fun with melodies and movement, these activities, rhythm instruments, and music genres allow for the use of language and active listening - with traditional rhymes and songs and theme-related stories. The program also supports emotional, social and physical development of very young children.
Adults and their children from ages 1 to 3 are welcome to attend.
The child is never forced to participate actively, but he/she should be encouraged by the adult, who should enjoy singing and moving.
The new time for this program is Fridays at 10:30, beginning March 5.
Please call 202.282.3113 if you need additional information.
