Literary Friends of the DC Public Library

The Literary Friends of the DC Public Library help the Library support Washington area writers – and help Washington area writers support the Library.

We accomplish this support through activities involving books, writing and reading. These have included book acquisitions, free author talks and readings, annual receptions for writers, salons, panel discussions and award ceremonies.

We also support literacy and reading projects. Writing, reading and learning add pleasure, wisdom and interest to life. Our mission is to spread some of this pleasure and wisdom throughout the Washington community.

The Literary Friends of the DC Public Library was started in 1983 and is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Membership is just $25 a year. To join, contact Wendy Blair at 202-543-7539.
